About Us
BlueStoneCommerce is a family-owned business – owned and operated (surprisingly enough) by a family. Our primary products are C&C Guinea Pig Cages (learn all about them by visiting our websites, stores, FAQ pages, or YouTube channels – links are provided below).
First and foremost, we are pet owners. We have always had pets in the house – from frogs, to dogs, to rabbits, to snails, to fish… and, of course, guinea pigs. We currently have five guinea pigs and our terrier dog Cosmo, sharing our house with us. Our rabbit “Bun” was almost 12 years old when he passed away on New Years Day 2009. Bun, Scooter and Cosmo (the 15 lb. “wonder pig”) have had many photo shoots for our pictures that appear in our BluestoneCommerce Cages listings.
We built our first cage – not to sell – but for our own use. Many years ago, we didn’t know any better so we put Pookie, our very first guinea pig, in a standard petstore cage. Between the nestbox, water bottle, and feeding dish, there was not much room for Pookie. But, we didn’t know – that was the standard cage. We thought we were giving him a good home and treating him well. But watching him, we always had a nagging feeling that Pookie just never had enough room.
After Pookie passed, we decided to get another pig for the family. This time we did some research online and found that 1) yes, the standard petstore cage is far too small, and 2) pigs do much better in pairs or groups. So…
a) I designed and built a large-multilevel Cubes and Coroplast (C&C) cage and…
b) We bought two pigs this time – Scooter and Pepper.
And everyone was much happier with this new arrangement. (Poor Pookie).
Our pigs did so well, that a few years later, we decided to “spread the word”.
So we started a little business selling BluestoneCommerce Cages on eBay just a few years ago because we wanted to provide guinea pigs a larger and healthier environment to live in. As our cages became more popular, we added several new innovative designs and recently we’ve branched out and have begun listing our cages on Bonanzle, iOffer, created some of our own websites and have produced several educational guinea pig cage videos.
As you might imagine, over the years, we have spent literally thousands of dollars on pet products and so, we feel we have become quite knowledgable in this area. We hope that the knowledge that we share on this website will help you to make better decisions on creating a happy and healthy environment for your pet(s).
